TP1E Twisted Pair VGA Video Line Driver

TP1E big picture

The C.A. Designs VGA / SVGA / XGA twisted-pair video driver TP1E is part of a line interface for the transport of video signals, throughout buildings wired with category 5 cable systems, to remote monitor screens.

The TP1E-0 transforms the VGA / SVGA / XGA video output from a PC graphics adapter into a differential composite analogue video format suitable for transmission over twisted-pair cables.

Synchronisation pulses of any polarity are accepted and may be recreated at the receiving end by a TP1V or TP1K receiver.

Power is sent over the transmission link to the receiver which requires no other external power supply.

The twisted-pair cable used must be category 5 grade or better (depending on length and acceptable quality). Foil-screened cable is recommended for optimum EMC.

Excellent picture quality with resolutions up to 1024x768 (non-interlaced) using category 5 twisted-pair cable is obtainable from:

  • TP1E-0 with a TP1V-100 up to 100m
  • TP1E-0 with a TP1K-100 up to 100m
  • TP1E-0 with a TP1K-200 up to 200m

External power must be provided from a 12V regulated power supply (eg MP7)
