The C.A. Designs keypad KP1** is a multi-key customizable keypad, suitable for use within financial dealing environments. The unit is fully compliant with UL, FCC and CE standards.
The innovative design is particularly resistant to fluid spills and EMC radiation.
Communications Protocol - Device/Host CPU
Line speed can be either 9600, 4800 or 2400 bps. The CPU will automatically determine the active line speed through a cascading mechanism (i.e. the initial connect attempt will be at 9600 bps, and if that fails a connect attempt will be made at 4800 bps, and then 2400 bps if necessary). This cycle will continue until a valid device is detected. The speed used will be adjusted according to the type and length of cable used to connect the device and the host CPU.
Device Communications Interface
The device interface is either a 9-pin RS-232 connecting directly to the host CPU, or an RJ45 cat.5 socket connecting via an RS422 interface (order keypad port converter from C.A. Designs, part code KPX422).
The device operates at a distance up to 300m from the host CPU subject to cable conformance with the industry standard for category 5 wiring (T568A, T568B).
The device attaches to a serial port on the host CPU.
Audible Alert
The device provides an Audible Alert Capability. This is from a sounder contained inside the keypad which can be activated by the Alert Request from the CPU. The CPU may control the frequency and duration of the sounds produced by the sounder.
Power is derived from the computer and no additional connections are required.
