Detailed Product Description
  KMS2*

C.A. Designs KMS2* dual keyboard and mouse sharer products allow a single IBM-compatible PC to be controlled with two sets of keyboards and mice.

Keyboards may be either 5-pin DIN or 6-pin mini-DIN type and mice may be serial or PS/2, but all must be of the same type.

The workstations operate a contention system with control on a 'first come, first served' basis.  Workstations demand control by either:

  • Any keystroke or mouse action (default), or
  • Any keystroke (set by internal link J3)

When control resides with one workstation, the others are locked out while it is in use and for a short (switch selectable) time afterwards.

All PC commands are sent to all workstations so that the keyboard lamps and function key states are updated at all workstations.  LEDs indicate which workstations are locked out (unlit LED has control).

These units derive their power from the connected computer and require no external power supply.

If keyboards and mice are required to be remote from the system unit, then the C.A. Designs KMS4B and KMS7B keyboard and mouse sharer units may be used.

Keyboard inputs and outputs are normally 6-pin mini-DIN connections; adapter leads are available from C.A. Designs to convert to 5-pin DIN format if required.
