The C.A. Designs KB1A PC keyboard extender system enables IBM-compatible computers to be operated with a keyboard (AT or PS/2 type) remote from the system unit (up to 200m away). Power is derived from the computer and no additional connections are required.

The KB1A is comprised of:

• A small local module connected to the computer via a flying lead
• An interconnecting cable (provided by the user to the specification below)
• A small remote module into which the keyboard plugs

The specification for this lead is as follows:

• 4 cores of 7 strand 0.2mm wire with an overall braided screen
• Ends are terminated in 9-pin 'D' connectors using pins 1, 2, 4 and 5 inclusive wired pin 1 to pin 1, etc.
• The cable screening braid must be wired pin 4 to pin 4 (in parallel with the pin 4 wire)
