The C.A. Designs CX1X-300 PC extender system enables an IBM-compatible computer to be operated with the keyboard, mouse and monitor remote from the system unit.  Connection between system unit and remote workstation is by one or two Category 5 UTP / FTP twisted-pair cables (using RJ45 connectors wired to EIA568).

VGA, SVGA or XGA (analogue video, TTL sync) video graphics signals are amplified and cable matched through buffered video line drivers (designed for minimum co-channel interference and optimum performance).

Excellent picture quality is dependent upon cable length and quality, enhanced by externally-adjustable cable compensation matched to Category 5 cable for lengths up to 300m (to improve picture sharpness).  Resolutions range from 1280x1024 non-interlaced at short lengths to 800x600 non-interlaced at 300 metres.

Keyboard and mouse signals are bi-directionally multiplexed and the system is data transparent allowing normal 'booting' and mode selection.  AT or PS/2 keyboard types are supported with 6 pin MDIN plug standard (5 pin DIN plug keyboards require two adapter leads - available from C.A. Designs, part codes LD7A and LD7C).
